Howdy — I’m trying something new here, where I send a short email with a link to my newest reporting any time I have something published, so you can reliably receive it in your inbox instead of happening to catch it live on the radio or hope the social media algorithms get it in front of you.
The posts will be tagged in a section I’m calling “From The Field.” Let me know if you like it/don’t like it/have any feedback on how to make sure you see what you want to see.
The 2026 midterm general election season is upon us. Here’s what to watch
After two months off for part one of parental leave, I’m back and on the ground in Dallas to cover the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention this week.
Ahead of the event, I joined Morning Edition to discuss where things stand with the campaign fight over control of the House and Senate now that we’re past Labor Day, the unofficial start to general election season.
From the piece:
Voters have expressed concern over major priorities of the Trump administration, such as the war in Iran and immigration, tariffs and gas prices and the overall affordability of American life.
The president’s approval ratings have sunk to record lows as polls also show voters see a disconnect between their top issues and what Trump seems to be focused on, like the White House ballroom construction project.
